You think this setup will be adequate? It is what I have in mind to get into audio recording on the go and in a home studio setting.

If you don't need to record any more than 2 inputs, it should be fine.

Also check out the Firewire audiophile - it's about the same price and has a few more fiddly bits

yes, i would be recording everything but drums one track at a time and then record all the drums on one or two tracks using the mixer as a means to do it...to get me started i think it may be the best route.

as far as the audiophile...are you suggesting i replace the echo indigo in the signal chain? would there be any benefit to doing this?

Well the audiophile just seems to have a few more features. I'm just suggesting you check it out as an possible alternative
