Hi, i have cubase lle 5 on my computer and am new to this, i am unable to get my interface to communicate with my software program. the interface i have is a zoom r8. i downloaded the driver for it. I have done everything in the setup manual. ive gone to devices setup and designated the zoom r8 asio driver.

when I go to device setup under the Zoom r8 driver, under the ports i have 2 in, 2 out both status as "active".

but when i try to record it picks up nothing.

any one have any ideas?

Thanks You!

Are you selecting the input on the track your recording? You also have to hit the monitor button to see a level.

i have the zoom r8 dedicated as the track input, still no recording. what is the monitor button? where can i find it?

Thank You!

Ok, the enable recording button and monitor button are engaged and still no recording i can see on the interface that it is picking up on the mic. but still, it wont record when i hit the record button on my computer.

when i hit the record button everything seems to be going smooth, except it doesnt pick up any sound waves when i mic check.

isnt the r8 a dedicated standalone recorder? where you record to it then move files to pc?

it seems its also a usb interface
install drivers
go to device set up and ensure r8 is set up as the in/out

I'm going to guess you haven't created an input bus. 'F4' to get to VST Connections. Add a mono input bus and select the source from your interface for it. Then in the inspector window on the left of project window, select the mono bus as your track input. See pic:

hi

Thank you for your feedback!

I went to the VST connections inputs and opened a mono input.

I then went and opened a new track and selected the mono bus.

still no recording. as the line go's there is a blue box that appears with a straight line that i assume should show the sound waves, but it does not.

also i noticed in the VST connections window it says that the mono bus is "not connected" how do i get it connected?

Any Ideas??

Thank You!

also in the VST connections window under "audio device" when i click on "not connected" it gives me the option to select the "Zoom R8" but when i click it it just returns to the VST connestions window as "not connected"

In Cubase, go to Devices>Device Setup>VST Audio System. From the drop down menu, select Zoom R8 (or whatever looks like your device). After you have selected your interface, inputs/outputs should be active.

hi

i went to Devices>device setup>VST audio system>Zoom R8 input channel 1 is active and the track is set to mono input 1.
same under VST connections (F4) it shows input 1. but yet there is still not pickup to to the sound waves as the recording goes.

So your VST Connections now shows that the Zoom is connected? All I can say now, is to enable record (red button on track), make sure monitor icon is highlighted, and hit record on Transport. It should work man. If not, then you have either not set up the input bus to the channel, or you do not have the Zoom setup correctly.

I'm sure it is just a step you are missing. Been there myself.

Keep at it. I'm sure it will be obvious once you find the missing step. :)
