MySpace really destroys quality of MP3s so I would try uploading to a better site like www.lightningmp3.com or www.SoundClick.com

With that said:

Vocals sound real bad to me. Muddy, burried, and the performance is not good.

Drums sound okay compared to everything else, a little distant and "thin".

Guitar sounds "alright".

It also sounds like it was all recorded in mono.

thanks for the quick reply, yes I have to re-do the vocals, and i'll put it on my soundclick as soon as I get a chance. but, any sugestions on how to get it less mudy, considering almost all of our instroments sound best at a low eq.

any sugestions? becouse thats a problem I've alway's had.

Hmmm - let me paraphrase you --> Our instruments sound best with a lot of mud, but my mixes have too much mud. We have always played our instruments with ton's of mud, and our recordings seem to always have a ton of mud. Can you please tell me where the mud is coming from?

I think you answered your own question. :D

Sounds much better on SoundClick.

Everything still sounds muddy though, especially the vocals. Get rid of the vocals and re-do them completely. Sounds like maybe you got too close to the mic when singing? I don't know what mic you used or how this was recorded so it makes it hard to tell.

Rhythm guitar sounds okay, still not that good. Lead guitar tone sounds like it needs more highs. They both sound kind of like they were recorded direct? I don't know.

How did you record this?

I think you vocal mic is broke. Either that, or you have some serious distortion/clipping occuring.

nope the vocal mic isn't broken (its the same one I used on the guitars, and I'll try and re do the vocals with a diffrent mic next time.

NL5 what clipping?

The vocal track clips BAD and distorts pretty bad as well

It sounds like the diaphragm is torn on the mic or something.

ok, I quickly re-did the vocals with out live mic (a $30 mic I believe we got it from radioshack), took off the verb, and turned up the vol a bit. I added it to the my sound click site (here)

EDIT NLS is it just the vocals? becouse I swear I hear no clipping..

Wow. I don't know what to say. It fully distorted in spots. You should be able to hear it pretty easily. (edit 1:00-1:10 is one spot thats really bad)

edit - the new version is WAYYYYYYY better.Try slapping a pretty fair amount of compression on that vox track now.

The tune is catchy enough. :)

The rhythm guitars can use some air.

The vox do sound distorted and like the singer is locked in a can. I suggest singing out loud like pumping those lungs in front of a mic with a foot between the singer and the mic.

Oh, I know nothing about recording vox, almost never done it but just my opinion on how I think it will sound better.

thanks for both responses. I'll try bellowing, but I've alway's been a soft singer (i usto not even go overtop of an accustic without a mic... and I'll see how the rhythem guitar sounds with a bit of air (my rooms not really been treated to well yet) but I'll give it a shot. Thanks. and I'll be adding compression to the vocals as soon as I get the actual lead guitarist to record his track, and re-do the rhthem.

thanks again
