I would like to record solo acoustic guitar, so only need 2 tracks (for 2 mics). I'm looking for something very easy to use, with some effects available. Also would like to stay away from havinmg to use a computer. Seems like this unit would be a good choice....any comments from users out there?
Thanks!

I'd think twice about dropping $800 on a masterlink if the only thing you're recording is 2 mics. Were you planning on using a mixer/pres? You'll need to have phantom power if your running condensers and I don't think the masterlink has phantom. Are you never going to need more than 2 channels either? If you do, I'd suggest staying in the sub $1,000 digital recorders like that Boss/Fostex that have pretty decent quality as long as you have decent mics. If you don't forsee yourself ever putting a third track on (which I find unlikely) then the masterlink is good, but you'll still need a stand-alone mixer to run from if you're using condensers. Hope this helps!!

An outboard preamplifier and maybe even a compressor may be needed but, it'll record two tracks analog or digital so you'd be fine as long as all you wanted was a stereo guitar track. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

It's not the road I'd take for sure but everybody's got their own way, you know.

Best of Luck,
Chris
