El Barto

I'm filling out my ACT forms, and recently when I got my 4 track, I thought it might be cool to go to college to learn how to be a producer and work at a studio/start my own studio. Anyone know of a good college like this in Michigan, or where I might find one?

Well, you might write to Michigan State or University of Michigan and ask for info regarding electronic music/studio engineer, etc.

There is an advertised school in Arizona someplace that is SUPPOSED to be pretty good.

Some junior colleges offer one or two classes in electronic/midi/ using Roland stuff in some places, like Grand Rapids Junior College. I never took the course but wish I had time.

Then, you can find a good studio and apply for the janitor's job; while you're sweeping you could be learning or work a deal with them. Bartering still exists.

If you dig it, go after it.

You might want to look at Recording Institute of Detroit. They don't offer a 'degree', but you can (apparently) get solid training there. I am finishing up at MSU right now with a BS in mechanical engineering and a BS in math w/ a minor in computer science. Hopefully I can find an audio engineering job this summer. Good luck.

That's where I wanna go, MSU...mainly for computer science. My sister goes there now, I hear it's the #2 party school in the nation...that's a big turn on. Maybe I'll do damn good on my ACTs (I am confident I will do relatively well) and get a small scholarship or something cool like that. Hey, I can dream, can't I?
