I'm a recording/programmer hobbyist (don't do much of the latter anymore), but I've had some spare time recently, and thought maybe this would be a good project to work on.
My idea is to create a collaboration forum/software for musicians to work on projects together...send files, transfer one entire project to someone else in their group, and possibly even converting one project format to another (say, a Cubase project to a Sonar project).
Basically what some people do in the MP3 mixing clinic, except this would make it a lot easier for people to work on projects together without uploading a zip file of their whole project, and having people download them, create a new project, etc.
This would handle it all automatically.
Also options for buddy lists, instant messages, and some other cool stuff like that.
What do you think? Would anyone here actually use it? Would I be wasting my time? It would be a rather big project to do on my own but it shouldn't take too long.
So, hopefully I'll get enough replies and maybe I'll develop this.
