Hey what's up? I just got a M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 sound card. I use to just do my songs in 16 bit but now that I have the option to go up to 24 bit I tried to do so. Anyway my question pertains to when I go to convert my wav to mp3 it won't let me it says I need some codec to do so. Does anyone know where I can get this codec so that I can record my songs in 24bit? Thanks!

There probably is something, but the usual route to mp3 is after making 16bit/44.1Khz for CD, so most people won't know what you need, I don't ;)

By all means create your mixes at 24bit (the "Master") - I do as do many. Then use an audio editor to make a 16bit version for CD, and go from that to Mp3 or whatever.

Ok cool. So render it 24bit then in say like soundforge just save it as a 16bit? I was just wondering why I could record in 24bit then not be able to do shit after that. Thanks!
