to begin - I have searched and read these forums as well as browsing the net before posting...
I have an open inset closet space that I am going to convert to a vocal recording booth. Luckily the closet is near the back of my house so outside noise is not likely hurt the recording. I manily would like to isolate the vocals so I can monitor through speakers while recording.
My plan is to build a "sound proof" wall to enclose the closet. I was thinking of particale board then old carpet and sleeping bags then another sheet of particle board (low budget). If I can isolate a majority of the sound I should still be able to monitor through speakers.
Ventilation is going to be handled by running a large tube(like a clothes dryer's air exhaust) and attaching a fan to bring in fresh air. I know this may lead to some noise but thats ok with me. Another tube will also help by moving air out.
Questions: Has anyone done any similar projects? Maybe a little friendly advice on where to start? Materials to use on a low budget?
What about a door? Will the door be the weak link?
What about a small viewing window? plexiglass?
Thanks for any help!
