I can't really hear it on my work speakers after everything jumps in. It gets lost?

Again. only my work speakers. . .

kick sounded fine on my state of the art studio behringer uber monitors lol

btw great performance and mix!

liked it loads :)

hmmm I thought the kick was just right on my monitors, but then I tried it on the computer speakers and it blasted away the whole mix, maybe I'll have to check if I over-eq'd it. Thanks KC any other opinions are apprieciated as well

What I love about your songs is they always have a great hookline and everything seems to be built around that. That's musical maturity to me. Mix sounds great to me and I just love the guitar sounds and your playing. Great singing too. Really enjoyed this!

That kick has alot of energy in the 125hz range....almost like it was miked with a SM 57.:D Just a little reduction in this range with an almost corresponding increase around 80 hz ought to keep it present without it dominating the lower mid landscape. Watch the large floor tom in this range as well...it's almost a problem. I'm listening on some Tannoy PBM 6.5's in my office this morning.
The rest of that tune and the drum mix kicks ass.

thanks teysha I think that's the problem, I'll slide that hump on the kick down a little farther

Gotta say that I love your snare sound. Really great to me. Is it a sample? Or does your drummer know how to tune his stuff!

Keep up the good work. The kick sounds a little low midrangy to me. I prefer a deeper bass on my recordings. )I'm listening on headphones.)

Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys, took some of your suggestions and did some more,

- put the kick lower frequency, it's hard to complement it with the bass as there is slap bass and fingered bass, but I think this is a happy medium

- warmed up the guitars a bit especially on the intro

- more back up vox and warmed them up a bit too

As for the snare, no samples here and no podding either ;)

Here's the new mix

Thanks for listening

this is top notch... really enjoyed the playing and the sound is amazing. snare sounds awesome as does the whole drum kit,, nice guitar and excellent vocals.

I was actually about to comment on the guitar in the intro before you posted the second mix. I'm still not too excited about that tone (by itself, that is; it sounds fine in the mix), but it's better.

I think I actually liked the kick better in the first mix. It created a really good driving dance beat in the chorus.

The guitars in the break after the second chorus felt a little loud to me.

Cool song. You've got a neat, unique vocal tone here.

Edit: Oh yeah, I'm listening on cheap headphones on a laptop with pretty weak D/A converters. So, grain of salt and all.

This sounds very good on my desktop speakers, and i do love the drums, kick including. The snare might be a little hidden, but that's subjective i think.

Other than that, great song! Love the guitars. :)

I'm not sure which version I'm listening to, but the mix sounds great to me--kick included. I'm listening on Paradigm mini monitors, BTW.

Like the song too... great job.
