Im gonna need some monitors soon, was looking at the truths, but the thing is im only gonna be sitting about a foot away from them, would i be better off with some smaller, nearfield ones??? Need to be relativly cheap, currently mixing through a stereo so anything is going to be an imptrovment!

1ft !!

i can't get a response on the distance but there is a reason,
or 'ballpark-range"..

1ft away... 4" and a sub?... are you sure 1ft away???that below common avaerge of 3-4ft. 1ft= 12inches???

there is something to dispersion and nearfields, physics designs.
nearfields aren't 15" speakers generally...

one monitor doesn't always sound better than another. 8" sht isn't
better than 4" quality...and 1ft away!!! 4-5"??
i had to eat crow,
when i found out all the happy HR's with KRK V4 and a sub...
it's really good stuff. the KRKv4 made me laugh at first, tiny little
$500 speaker, but owners strongly disagree and were rated above BlueSky,Yamaha..in a mag shootout.

i got some M-Audio B5's for $165 used, great shape with 15 return..
testdriving, you could say. great little nearfield with a sub (required IMO).
jefree and Richie same positive inputs.

.

i got a set of Event 20/20's i love how they sound, but im definatly not a foot away from them 3-4 ft mabye. Do you realzie how close a foot is? where are you putting these things that they need to be a foot away?

Kk its maybe more like 3 foot. they'll have to be on my desk in front of me.

And yeah i wont ever have £600 to spend on monitors. More like £100. God damnmy my mixes dont sound that bad done through stereo speakers!
