I appreciated all of the useful advice given previously on recording violin and piano. I thought I'd take a step back and try some mono "on-axis" trials of a few microphones that I had plus the RSM-2 which had caught my interest. I thought this would be a good step before trying all the different stereo setups. The mics were set about 6 feet away from the Violin/Piano, all more or less pointing the same way almost in the same place. I use a Presonus Firepod (the RSM-2 took all the 'gain' I could give with the presonus built-in preamp). BTW, the third sample is also the 603 but it uses the ART tube pre-amp instead of the built-in presonus preamp. Without giving my own impressions, I'd greatly appreciate comments and suggestions as I'm trying to take baby steps in picking mics and then exploring more acoustic and stereo-positioning methods and principles.
Thanks!
