Slowing becoming un-noob.

Alright, well. First off, these were all recorded in my dorm room. They weren't recorded at all carefully really, just quickly thrown together.
2 guitars were used to record. Same settings on the amp for both of them.
Left side: Epiphone Les Paul Custom (stock bridge pickup) (my buddy's)
Right side: ESP f-100fm. (Bridge pickup..Seymour Duncan SH-14 custom 5 pickup) (mine)

We didn't layer at all. I like the tone of the guitar. Nothing amazing, but I like it.

I suck at soloing, and I didn't think about those solos at all, just one take of STUPID soloing. So yeah, Just for fun. Also, rhythmically, I'm off here and there, but whatever. Nothing Aweful.

Let me know what you guys think.
I used a Behringer B-2 Pro condenser mic through alesis multimix 16 firewire mixer.
If you have any other questions, go for it.

I'll try and get a pic up of my recording setup.

EDIT:

Here's a pic
I took the picture with photobooth. So my computer is usually in the space that is empty in the center there.

You'd be better off posting this in the "MP3 Mixing Clinic" I think. That said, if you didn't put much effort into recording these, layering them, or practicing... what kind of commentary do you want? :p

I suppose the tone. I guess I'm pretty proud of the tone.

But good point. i really don't know what I was thinking. Just the first time I recorded with this speaker. If I could take back this thread..I think I would.

Sorry everybody.

It's OK dude! I just wanted to clarify on what we're supposed to be listening for, and what we should be ignoring.

actually, i really like the tones! it's not really my kinda tones, but they used to be! i woulda really totally dug this a while back.

the best part was that it didn't sound "direct" - sounded like a miked amp (which it was).

what setting was it? and was the reverb from the amp? very natural.

what you need to do is throw together some clean rhythm/fingerstyle/leads - i think those are harder to do and would be more "telling" or showcasing the amp's strong sides.

really nice playing, imho, for that style.

I don't know if it's your recording rig or your guitar rig but I would have expected better. It needs more presence and less low end. That is, unless you enjoy the tone you have. But just hearing this tone without the assumption that it will be mixed into a complete song with bass, drums, or whatever else, that's what I would work on.

Thanks! Yeah, I really dug them. The rhythm tones were a little on the bassy side, but otherwise I really liked the lead.
As far as fingerstyle goes. That's not my forte to say the least. But as far as setting goes...
it was #3 v oice on channel 2
"Heavily overdriven Tweed tone."
Reverb was from the amp, I'm very pleased with the reverb, really helps out the sound imo. Treble at 10. Bass at 6.5. The first reverb setting on the amp with the f/x level at 6.5.
Gain at 3.5. Volume at about 2.25.

So there you have it.
My playing isn't that great, but I'm glad you think so!:D

yeah, I really do love the tone I have. But I've been too lazy to hook up my pedals and take advantage of my EQ pedal. I can see what you're saying. But I would have nothing against keeping the tone I have. But if I wasn't so lazy I would take out a Little more low end, and add some high. I'm still pretty pleased with what I have. First time recording guitar with my condenser. (Why the hell didn't I do this sooner?)
