Clicks/Pops when running other programs

I recently bought a Terratec DMX6fire 24/96 and it is a beast of a card... I was recently listening to music and everything was fine but when I went to browse the internet lots of clicks and pops started coming through my monitors... Im not sure what this means or what I should do... Any suggestions?

Are you using a production program like cubase while browsing? If so, the asio drivers it uses are made to "always" be on time, meaning that when your comp can't really handle all the audio + internet at the same time, it chooses to drop samples (heard as clicks and pops) rather than slowing down the playback. MP3 playback programs like WMP or WinAmp don't have that problem. I don't know about crackles using those.
 
Yea I was running Adobe Audition ... Thats interesting about the ASIO thing, seems to me like its not very usefull when running other programs (while recording)...but then again, I'll admit its probably the most responsive driver type I ever used, so i guess there are some drawbacks :(

Adobe Audition doesn't use ASIO drivers.

i had the same prob my boy told me to use a second harddrive to record my music i did this and the cliks and pops were gone

None the less, it will probably still be using drivers that try to "hold on" and drop samples in stead of slow down.
 
still strange, it still happens at random but its just not as severe as it was. I also get a long TONE sound when I pause music that dosnt end untill I stop or play the song... I never heard of any of these issues with my card before so this is quite strange.
