Clicks and Pops

Just got my 8 track hooked up to my laptop and am importing/editing mastered tracks on the 8-track to the laptop using a program called Goldwave.

Problem: the imported tracks have some clicks and pops in them, almost like skips. Otherwise, the sound is pretty solid. Can anyone offer any advice on how to get rid of these sounds?
 
Fostex VF-08- it is digital, not analog. I am using the two ST OUT jacks- converting 1/4 inch to RCA to 1/8 inch mini-plug that goes into the Line In jack on my laptop.
