I have just started recording cds at home. I have a pc with a Yamaha 4x scsi cd writer, 64mb of ram, p2 400, and would like to get good sound recordings. Whether I am recording from cd to cd or from .wav file to audio cd, i occasionally get pops and ticks in my tracks. Why? I have tried the Adaptec cd creator, cdrwin, and several other recording pieces of software with the same results. The ticks and pops are never in the same places. it is almost like a buffering issue. Any ideas on what to do? Will more hard drive space help? What can I do to get good audio tracks?

Thank you in advance.

I had the same problem, I believe...

I resolved the issue by trying different CD-R brands; I found that Verbatim would not play well on my Onkyo CD player, even though the sound was great on my car CD player and on the computer CD-ROM.

TDK CD-R, however, works great on ALL my CD players. Make sure you get the 8x certified one (I don't know if that was a factor, but why chance it, when they cost the same as the lower speeds?).

Apparently, even in the best of scenarios, there will always be players out there that won't like the brand of CD-R you are using, and I've been told DVD players are particularly finicky. Try finding a brand that works well for your particular players.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

William
