I need to find a way to hear the track when playing the drums without all the hiss from cranking it so high when recording it. Music stores say I need a drum machine to do this (NOT) any suggestions
I think the musk store people are probably right but...I have been owndering why nobody makes a midi metronome device just for such purposes. Similarly, when using DP, if I want a click throught the MIDI, I need a sound from my MPC 2000. This is fine, however, a small, dedicated MIDI metronome with a few different click sounds and a volume and pan function would be great. Oh well, hope someone in one of the many manufacturing companies gest this idea.
Here is a thought. According to the latest Electronic Musician magazine there is an $8 metronome program from Responsive Software http://www.responsivesoftware.com that runs on the palm PCs.
What if you took one of these and ran it though the headphone mix using the earphone out on the Palm PC?
In the article there are several other programs mentioned that might be useful.
if you have an interface you could hook it in to a keyboard or what ever. but even on a stock sound card you might find a decent sound. The hiss however would to me be a product of the amplification equipment or poor signal quality. At least that is how I look at it.?.?
