click track delay

Hi. i`m trying to figure out why is it that i have some sort of click track BPM delay or dephasing in my computer no matter what type of software i use? (it happens with fruityloops, reason, Ymentronome etc..)
I have a Toshiba laptop (1.8 gHz PIV, 512 Mb RAM, 30Gb HDD and an integrated audio Yamaha AC-XG, WinXP OS) This had happened b4/after i've formatted the computer, and installed every update avaliable.

Should i just use an external click track?

are you getting a delay in recorded audio as well?? whether monitoring while recording or playing back audio? if yes...then check your buffer settings in the software program. when recording you generally want it to be as low as possible so latency isn't noticed and there are not pops or clicks. when playing back audio, you'll want to turn it up so the computer can handle processing of the plugins. look somewhere in program for hardware settings and find something called Latency or Buffer size or something like that.
