Oh yes. You hearing is majorly screwed if you have clogged ears. Go to the doc and learn how they do it, it isn't that tough but you want to make sure you do it right.

The doc still has a big advantage over you in that they can look and see exactly where they need to hit.

Man, I love a good ear cleaning.

What was that?

Gosh, I've never flushed my ears like that. I use a cuetip just inside the opening and it picked up a little wax. I hope my mixes really don't suck !! :)

you gotta remember though that probably 99% of the people hearing your stuff aren't going to have doctor brand clean ears.

You probably don't need it. Some of us have problems with excessive wax buildup.

I hate this!!!!!!!! I have mixes to do and plugged ears from a head cold!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, getting better monitors sounds like much more fun to me than sticking a syringe in my ears:D

You have to be careful with ear cleaning. Q-tips can push wax back, against the ear drum, making it really hard to get "behind" the wax to get it out. I read this somewhere.

It's not a needle, just a plastic syringe. You only stick it a very short distance, like if you were (properly) cleaning with a Q-Tip.

Then you blast warm water into your ear, and big blobs of wax come out.

That sounds really cool, I like it... "Doctor brand clean ears" :)

I`ve heard not to stick anything smaller than the elbow in the ear canals. Any cleaning of the canal should be done with solution. With ink pens, pencil erasers, and Qtips, external dirt, bacteria, and fungi can be pushed back into the canal where it gets a nice warm moist bed to grow and set up house in. Even ear plugs should be cleaned and sanitized often. A good cleaning by solution does make the ears more efficient and feels good in the process too.

I just don't like putting anything in my ears. Not even earplugs:D

Have your physician examine your ears to see if you need a "lavage". If there is sufficient wax buildup, he/she will flush with a warm saline solution using a large syringe device which looks like a caulking gun. The saline is forced into your ears and the wax falls into a bowl placed at the edge of your ear. The process works far better than using a drug store kit. And it's safer. I've done it twice over the last year or so and I find it helps a great deal. Unfortunately, it's the loudest thing you will ever want to hear! And there is some minor pain/pressure that goes along with the process. The other thing to remember is that it tends to make your hearing slightly tinny for a short period immediately after the procedure is done. So I would wait a day or so before mixing.

I recall in the 7th grade, my english teacher was telling us how she was cleaning her ears out with a q-tip and then she suddenly couldn't hear anything. She went to a doctor and I guess what had happened was she'd pushed the wax too far in, and if they hadn't of gotten it out she;d of gone permantly deaf. Just a story I for some reason remember...just be cautious if you do it yourself I guess.

You can buy ear drops from any chemist/pharmacy that breaks up wax, the name escapes me right now. The only non liquid item you should put in your ear is your OWN elbow.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

love how it all comes back to recording, in this case studio building and soundproofing with the caulking gun

Ear cleaning is awesome. I had some pain in my left ear a few weeks ago....some serious pain....so I went to the doctor and they hooked up this squirt gun to the faucet, and flushed a piece of ear wax out that was the size of a quarter! They said it was pushing on my ear drum and that's why it hurt. When I left the doctor I was going to school for a mixing session, and I could hear things sooooo much better. Ear flushing is great, I would recommend it highly.

am i the only one who cant put their elbow up near their ear?or is this sme kind of thing that means you shouldn't pt ANYTHING in your ear?

Anyone tried ear candles? Someone sticks a special hollow candle in your ear and lights it on fire. The flame and hollowness of the candle create a vacuum that sucks the earwax out of your ear canal. Be sure to put a barrier over the side of your head in case something falls onto your hair or skin :D

LOL!
you may be the onlyone who can put their elbow up near their ear... but I am the only one who can lick his own elbow!

I guess we just love our elbows

Ear candles are the way to go....if you havent tried them, I doubt any doc could pull more junk out of your head than the candles do. Its pretty profound.

You can get em at 'natural' stores and whatnot
