So I placed an ad looking for someone to look at my 388.
There's a few things that are not working and I think most of it comes from the pots which are really crackly and need a cleaning.

Anyway, I just got an email from a guy saying cleaning the pots on a 388 is nearly impossible due to the fact that they are mounted right on the circuitboard. He also says I'd be better of selling the machine to him, hah. So I don't know if what he's saying is based on facts rather than bulshit. Just thought I'd check here.

First off, the pots are definitely cleanable and fixable by using a contact cleaner which can leach down from the outside of the unit by removing the plastic knob and letting a few drops of the cleaner slip down the shaft of the control and then turn the pot back and forth a few dozen times to work it in.

Caig laboratories makes a wonderful product called Deox-it which works like a charm and it is what I use myself on all of my equipment.

Do I really need to tell you the guy was shitting you?

Cheers! :)

Heh, that's what I thought, that sneaky little twat.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Ghost.
Must get me some of that Deox-it then!
