So the power at my house is not clean to say the least.

With my M-audio BX8's plugged in and on, even with nothing plugged into it, there is an audible amount of fuzz....and sometimes a quiet 60hz hum too....
anyway, as it's often really quiet in my room, i hear it when i'm sitting close to the speakers and it drives me crazy - not to mention i'm sure it doesn't help while mixing, ha.

I was assuming a power conditioner would be $150+, but how about this Furman M-8, for example? Worth it? Will it actually help my problem? I already have a pretty hefty surge protector, so if I got this thing it'd be mainly for cleaning up the power a bit. I'd be running on it: LCD monitor, 400W power supply on the PC, 2 BX8's, onyx 1220/firewire, external HD.

or if anyone else has a better suggestion, hit me up.
thanks

maybe i shoulda posted this somewhere else...perhaps other equipment/reviews? haha.

can a mod move for me?

it sounds like you have a grounding problem there... if youi own the place get an eletrician to sort out what you can... as to conditioning... a lot of the lower end rack mount stuff is really just good surge protection (giving them benefit of the doubt) most find that for home studio use the best thing to look at are UPS types... mine for instance (tripplite) has filtering on all 6 outlets and is uninteruptable on 3 of them... my puter controller and vid are on the ups side so on outage i can save quickly...

ah....hm ok.
house isn't mine, and landlord doesn't care ....haha.

you know how on surge protectors it'll have a "grounded when lit" light? that's on...hahaha

Costco has a TrippLite UPS for $99. Clean power and battery backup.
