whew. a rough one.

Just got done with a major system overhaul.... a wonderful experience, lemmie tell ya.

ANYWAY... now Im running a 800mhz Celly w/512MBRAM, dual monitors and a soundscape mixtreme w/ 16 ins and outs....

but I have a problem.:!

It is this:

Im doing this project, and I can get the drums and bass down nice and good... but whenever I start to mix in the guitars... esp. the LEAD guitar...I begin to hear a loud and obnoxious screeching noise in my monitors. If I mute the tracks, it goes away... but it is very bad if I dont.

Could this be a panning issue? Or what.?

any ideas?;)

xoox

Hmm bizarre...

have you worked out if it is a track based issue? ie Maybe with youir drum tracks and bass your Pc is coping with that numberof tracks and when you add in the guitar ones your Pc is being pushed over the edge.

Next thignt o check is your buffer settings and recording resolution. I assume you aren't mixing sample rates? ie drums at 44.1 and guitars at 96k.... ?

thridly are all the connections right? Is your soundcard set up correctly? Turn down and graphics acceleration.

What is your hard-drive situation? You have a dedicated and fast audio only drive ?

how does it sound when you solo the guitar track?.....

btw, loud and obnoxious screeching guitar...are you doing a Yngwie Malmsteen project?.....

lmao

any time I play the guitar track it is loud and screechy. Solo'd even.

And the signal path in is the same as for bass.. but the bass is much more mellow and hip-sounding.

Its really wierd, cuz when I PLAY the tracks originally... I dont hear the screechyness....it sounds totally good (though sometimes the rest of the band all puts earplugs in)... But when someone ELSE plays it.. I can hear it while tracking.....

does that mean its a mixer or amp issue.. and not a recording issue at all?

help!

xoxo
