Hi, I wondered what's the correct nut and saddle height for a classical guitar. I know how to adjust electrics and acoustrics but classicals have a much higher bridge, but how high? It seems much too high on my guitar and I have difficulty with barres above the 5th fret (I don't have any on either electric and acoustic guitars). I think the nut is OK but might not, its pretty low already.
The string height at the 12th fret (from the top of the fret to the middle of the string) is about 0.20" on the bass side and 0.15" on the treble side. Its about 0.02" higher at the 19" fret.

Thanks

According to an excellent guitar repair book by Hideo Kamimoto, "For classical guitars with medium action, the string height above the twelfth fret is approximately 5/32 inch on hte bass side and 4/32 inch on the treble side."

Damn, from the top of the fret to the bottom of the string that what I have, 5/32 and 4/32.. guess its my technique then..

Thanks

I've got them set lower than that on my hybrid classicals but they can get pretty raspy if you play hard.
