This is a piece a friend of mine wrote, I told her I'd post it here for comments . . . this is just a rough piano track, she's still working on the orchestration, so obviously she's looking for comments on the composition and not the mixing, etc.:

Opus 27

Which movement is this of the Opus?

I'd like to hear a little more left hand for more contrast and interest. The right hand grabbed my attention, but the left didn't do anything for me. It sounds like random notes played against the right hand.

Eighth note runs up and down the keys and half notes played against this isn't too interesting.

Third of five, ~ 35 minutes for all five movements.

Here's some of the first movement:

First Movement

that was really beautiful, i think this particular song in most places could be softer and maybe flow more like the ocean, it seems a little static and occasionaly plunky (for what i take of the song anyways)?

her chops are reasonable... and the right hand adds some sparkle... the problem is considering the right the left has to hold up the right... in essence the left becomes the melody... or perhaps a counter theme from previous section if it's to be a developement... if as an original statement it's weak... the problem with deving into traditional forms is you either have to portray it as such or bring something new to the form... this does neither...

I really like the piece. Has your friend finished it and can we hear it ?
