Hey a few weeks ago I posted a few songs from this band I recorded. Since then I have recorded two more songs from them and they re did the vocals on one of them. Give them a listen and tell me what you think of the recordings and everything.

The songs are recorded real good. Def a recording I would pay for. I knwo the level every home recordist is something you could picture would be on the radio and I think a lot of these are near that quality. The vocals are good, only thing on puzzles they seem a little loud in the mix and uncompressed, it gets louder when he sings louder?

Judging by the energyu it sounds like you did it live? If not they no how to get into it in the studio lol I can feel the guitars really playing.

na dude its not live, all multitracked, they have just been together for quite a long time and have never had the chance to record

puzzlefuck was the only song that i wasnt fully pleased with, i recorded these songs on two separate days. The first time i recorded the guitars line in and the second day with a mic when i learned my error. Thats why it sounds kinda crappy, when you use distoriobn on a guitar line in it sounds like crap so im probboly gonna redo that song, as for the others i was pretty pleased with them. Thanks for the comments dude

The only real problem i have with the recordings is the quality of the drums, I'm using a CAD pro 7 set of drum mics and the toms just dont have any real kick to em. Any ideas?

Ballad of Life - good recording but could use a bit of compresson to smooth out the levels a bit. Also.....some things that catch my attention
- vocals have bit of sibilance on them (maybe different mic/de-esser needed).
- guitar solo bit too thin, could use a different patch/gain setting.
- piano too far away/panned too hard in intro, I'd pull it in/up a touch.
- vocals could use a bit of compression to tame the dynamics.
- snare is nice but you're right, the toms are hollow sounding, cymbals are good
- not getting much definition on the bass guitar

Not a lot of big things, starting with a pretty solid mix, just a few tweaks as far as I can hear to polish it.......

Alone2
- this is the song that has the same words as Billy Joel's Piano man in the beginning....I remember this from before....
- bass guitar has a bit more definition in this one
- could use some stereo here; maybe track another rhythm guitar and /or pan the guitars l/r. Things are a bit crowded center.....
- drums are panned left in intro, but maybe better panned center
- vocals still have the sibilance found in first tune.
- guitar solo sits better in this mix, such that it can continue through the vocals coming back in without stepping on them.
