We're considering making a cover of "City of New Orleans" - before I lay down the real tracks - please have a listen to this clip - just the chorus a couple of times. Knowing what works and what doesn't work will be good before we cut the full tracks. We used a new Baby Bottle for all the miced tracks (the electric guitar is direct through a ACMP-73) - all tracks are dry and there's a little compression on the outputs.

The toddler on bg vox has to stay, by the way - everything else is optional.

Thanks in advance!

Well, you got the chords right (except for during the first part of the solo), which is a major accomplishment for this song.

I'd capo up a couple of frets if it were me. Your voice will have a little more weight a little higher.

I agree with Harvey Gerst, but also you could try to sing it on a 3rd or 5th up so you'll stay with the same chords and you'll see how your voice fits better.

Keep Rocking!!

Agree with what's been said about the vocals. A good brush train drum track would better suit this song than the tambourine IMO. After all, it is a song about a train. Love the toddler, gotta keep that part.
