Have not recorded myself in a while (long time). So I have been wanting to do a cover of Cinnamon Girl and figured what the hell. Holiday weekend with nothing to do. Its my take on it, so its not a note for note cover. Vocals are weak as usual I sing out of necessity when I do my own recordings and have no one to fill in on vocals. I just picked up a couple old Fender Lead I's (guitars) and really like these guitars. Used one for all the guitar tracks. The single humbucker fender used on these guitars is crazy !!! Also used a Heartfield DR-4 bass, direct, using its built in XLR jack. These are a Fender product from the 80's and are just fantastic. Carbon fiber impregnated necks. Its my go to bass now. Anyway enjoy and let know what you think of the overall sound and mix.

I think the vocals work well & the liberties with the melody are cool as well.
Lots of riffage on this much loved chestnut.

Thanks Ray. Its been a while since I have recorded stuff. Family life and such has kept me away from it, and playing. Things are starting to settle down and I hope to do more. I bought PT10 and Reaper and need to get crackin on learning them both. Why both ? Why not. I've used Tracktion 3 since day one and with Mackie shelving it, I need to learn something else. And by learning 2 DAW's I should be covered. Anyway, thanks for the listen.

I always liked this tune, sounds good, a touch bass light maybe?, meaning the low end of the bass and kick. Vocals work fine, but I think the song has harmonies in spots, maybe add them ?

Overall fun listen, enjoyed it.

Thanks. Yea I thaught about harmonies, but my vocal abilities are quite limited. Meaning I stink :) Low end wise, I usually mix stuff with tons of bass, but the past few mixes I've been cutting it some. Maybe too much ?

I always say Neil Young covers are so much better than Neil Young originals. :p and this is no exception.

Great wall of sound. Vocals are good, no worries there. Snare has a compressed sound, but I can get used to it. Hihats clash with the guitars. I can't comment on low end levels as I recently changed my room a bit, so I'll just say I enjoyed it. Too short, though. :)

Great guitar tone. Not too shaby at all sir. It's uncanny as my son and I were just talking about covering some Neil Young tunes and this was one of the tunes we talked about.
Again, good job.

Changed my room a little also !!! Still trying to figure stuff out. I had too many panels. I did the "mirror along the wall" and put a panel where you see a monitor setup (reflection point). But have not yet tried the resulting mixes in the car or on other players.

Do a "Rust Never Sleeps" tune or another "Crazy Horse" tune !!! Sedan Delivery is a great one.

one of my favourite Neil Young songs...you did it justice, nice job :)

I think Southern Man or The Needle and the Damage Done are my other two faves...you could tackle them next ;)

Great cover. I think your vocals are excellent. Guitars have a nice bite to them, but not too fizzy. Maybe the bass could come up a touch, but great job all round

Thanks guys. I do need to take the mix and see how the low end is in my cars and home systems. Have a band coming next weekend to record, so I need to sort it out.
