Im thinking the vocals could be raised a db or 2 but then again thats my opinion and may not be the sound you are after......it didnt pass my "can i make out every lyric" test......

everything sounds very well tracked and mixed......what gear do you use?....

i rec drums in a nice live room that helped

i used a akg 2000 and a akg 3000 for vocals
ran it through a antaras mic mod an a art tube mp
acoustics i used the 3000 used minimal vocal compression with a
presonous smart compressor bass direct art tube mpon that
some older agk matched pair mics for the overheads
beta 52 in the kick actully used condencers for my tom mics
the 2000 and 3000 2 feet away to pick up the room
and the 1000s for the snare high hat mic
thats about it traced on pro tools le did drums in a church
the rest was brought one at a time in my back bedroom

Needs more ambience

Very nice recording. The acoustic guitars are panned a little hard for my taste. If you want more of a live feel, you're going to have to give it more ambience somehow. Some ideas: Bring up the delay on the vocal. Maybe add some reverb to each guitar, and pan it to the opposite side.

Just my 2 cents' worth,

Hey I enjoyed that! real nice job. Maybe a little more boost on the vox, otherwise great job.

I listened to 'Wonder Why.' Decent music. I rather liked it. Guitars sounded ok, tracked pretty well. I liked the way the two guitar parts played off each other.

A slightly bobbled note in the harmonies on the left side at 1:09. I agree with the comment about the guits being panned a little too hard. Listening on headphones it's kind of distracting.

The vocals sound a little muddy. Maybe you were a little too close to the mic? Not sure. Maybe an EQ cut around 275-300 would help out. I'm thinking retracking would be better. You might need a little more compression on them too. Some parts were tough to hear and other parts they cut through just fine.

Nice sound. IF .... you want it to sound more live. A few things you can do. First thing is don't record anything direct. Sounds like the accoustics may be direct into and out of a pod or something. Mic them with a LD Condenser. Electric through an amp. Mic the amp. Try to stay away from drum samples.

Then.... put just a touch of a hall reverb on every track (not the stereo track). Same amount, same type on every track.

My stuff always sounds to live.

This one sounds really live... even without the crowd noise. But I played each instrument.

obviously the fact that its a mp3 makes it sound like its dircet i asure you i miced each acoustic seperately

Sounds good. I had to listen in lo-fi because my computer sucks when it comes to music. But the sound is nice. I thought that the drums was a drum machine. I guess the distorted effect that the lo-fi mp3 gave me that idea. The drums sounded nice though. How did you record them?

Sorry. I don't doubt you and didn't mean anything bad. I liked the acoustics. I would be interested to know the signal chain and type of guitars.

This was nice.

Liked the song... the recording was pretty good... nice acoustic sound... very Jars of Clay-ish.

I'd say... bring the drums down a little.. they stand oat a hair too much (especially the toms/cymbals)... and bring the vocals up a tiny bit.

Other than that.... sounds pretty good.

yeah it is like jars but i think they area more solid acoustic band then jars a lot ore technical playing not in this song but over all

as far as the chain it was simply c3000 to a art tube mp to pro tools in a 10 by 12 room with an acoustic divider no effects on it cept the one delay guitar thats i miced but i cent the mic out through the delay and into pro tools this stuff is very dry minus compression for taming vocals and over heads and lil reverb on the vocals
