Guys,
I'm trying to record the rhythm guitar part for a song that sounds similar to a 3 Doors Down song - heavy distortion with mile chorus. The guitar I'm using a Squire Affinity Telecaster and the amp I'm using is a Fender Ultra Chorus 2 x 12 cabinet. The amp is mic'ed through a Shure condenser mic that runs into a M Audio Duo (usb) sound card. The Duo is plugged into my computer that is running the Cakewalk 2.0 software. Here are my questions:
1. What enviornment will be the best for recording this sound that I want (i.e. a garage, a bathroom, a living room) and at what angle should the mic be placed near the cone of the amp?
2. For palm mutes, when I record it with the amp on distortion, the palm muting sounds very distorted. When I do through a clean channel, it sounds to "dry". What is the best way to record a palm mute for distortion?
Thanks.
