Hi,
I have decided to use my computer to record and edit my band's music. I am perfectly sure that my computer is fast enough for the job (i built it, 1400mHz athlon). I would like to record each intrument as a different track. We have a total of 6 instruments plus 2 vocals (so 8 tracks). We use 1/4" plugs. I say that because i have seen a lot of cards with the connectors that you see on a vcr (without the video of course). I have also seen a lot of other equipment that I think I might need but I haven't a clue about what it is, :D. I have the software part down, but what is the cheapest possible way to get eight independent tracks into my computer?

Thanks for the help!!

I use the Audiotrak INCA88. 8 ins, 8 outs, low latency, 2 mic preamps, 2 headphone outs, coax out, SPDIF out... well, you get the idea!

I'm very happy with it!

Welcome to the board Maskils!
You might want to search through this forum, this subject is discussed all over here.
I use a Delta 1010 with Sonar and love it. 8 in and 8 out with SPDIF and MIDI. And it's not TOO expensive. I've heard great things about the RME Hammerfall as well, but it costs more. Good luck!

BTW...........................

I was going to suggest the same soundcard as barometer, the Delta 1010.
