Does anyone know where I can find some good choir samples that I can upload to my synth? It doesn't matter if they're .wav files... Actually I'd prefer .wav files. I need something that will sound good looped in small samples. Something like a church choir. Ominous and spooky, I guess.

Does it matter? How much money do you have?

yes it does matter ya pratt..

If you have enough money then go get Spectrasonic's Symphony of Voices.

That has exactly what you're looking for but it doesn't come cheap. Think before you post next time?

there *are* a number of free sample sites. Google is your friend. You won't get help pirating software here, though.

What synth are we talking about here?

You can make any choir sound spooky, just play them at the "wrong" pitch. I mean when keymapping, map their root note to something other than what the actual pitch of the sample is. This actually works with multisamples, as this induces formant shifts. For example let's say you have a choir of tenor voices, where they've sampled every other note. You assign them say a 5th or so down, then tune them up by a 5th, etc. This somewhat munchkinizes them, but in lower registers it tends to sound more spooky than comical.

Hey, did I ask for free samples? No! I don't mind spending money to get what I need. If I need to save up, that's fine but don't just assume that I'm looking for free shit. I have plenty of money. BTW, thanks to Docaroo. It looks like everything I'll need.

THAT'S THE EXACT ****ING REASON I ASKED YOU HOW MUCH YOU WANTED TO SPEND!!! ARGH!!! We all needed to know if you wanted to buy something, or go for cheap/free/etc....

So yes, if you can afford it - Symphony of Voices is pretty darn good, it can be heard on many records out there such as "Sonne" by Rammstein (the weird woman's voice) and "King For 1000 Years" by Helloween....

Do note that SoV comes in AKAI format only, shouldn't be a problem if you have a decent synth tho!

I'm interested to know if it uses anything like filters and other modulation programming or is it just straight samples. The reason I ask because I own a Kurzweil K2600 and it can load AKAI samples, however if there is any programming then they will be lost. So I want to know how playable they'd be.

I do think some of them use modulation for extreme pitch changes... ie the choir are recorded clean performing their possible range, but then for higher and lower notes outwith the range the sounds have been pitch shifted..

I think you should be ok though but I'd maybe check with Spectrasonic before buying!
