Hi all,want to buy a duel sterio casette recorder to use for mixdown from a tascam424,Can anyone tell me what duel casettes are compatable with the 424,or are most of them suitable.

Any cassette recorder would do, but I wouldn't do a cassette recorder for your mixdowns if I were you.

You can get a DAT machine so cheap nowadays (about $150), I'd go for that. DAT is a dying technology, and the prices are just going to keep falling. But they're great for keeping your mixes.

Even a good hi-fi vcr is better than cassette.......and you can record some cooool video along with it for entertainment value.

But if you are buying some thing new to mix down to, dont get cassette. You can get a good sound card cheaper than you can get a good cassette deck, and then you can just burn your mixes to cd...

was there some special reason why you wanted to buy cassette?

I bought a Sony DAT 15 years ago and used it to master several projects. I still use it for a backup for my stereo masters. I almost bought another one as a spare on ebay last week. It went for $103. Don't use a cassette. You won't be happy with the results. Honest.

Hello there again,the reason I wanted to use a twin track is that I dont know about anything else,not technically minded.let me explain.I dont want to use a computor as it takes me all my time to get these messages to you,never mind trying to record on one.What I need is very simple,I have recorded one track[rythym guitar]on a Tascam 424,I take the 424 to gigs put it through an amp and play lead guitar over the backing track,Im afraid the tape may break with all this use[2hour gigs]and I have no backup as I havent any copies of these tapes,the tapes recorded on the Tascam wont play on ordinary tape decks,so I need to copy these tapes to something which I can take to gigs and which will be reliable,could anyone tell me what would be best suited for this[without useing computors]do you have to use a computor for dat?Hope this isnt too long and you havent all fallen asleep,I want to thank you all for your answers and I hope you all know how thankfull I am for your help.Ian
