hi

do you guys happen to know any vocal effect that can make a grown male vocal sound - sound like it's a 6 to 9 year old kid ?
and that can be integrated with cubase 5 (a VST for example) ?

is there such a thing ?

A pitch transposer can make a grown man sound like Satan or a chipmonk but that's about it.

i dont know if its in cubase 5 but in 6 and onwards, you can us pitch correct and put your voice p octaves/tones/semitones

naaaa pitch shifting is not enough unless it the vocal was recorded by a very young girl..... I need something else, smarter, that can change the voice box

You're asking for a very, very complex processor here. Check out the TC Helicon hardware units. They had effects along those lines if I'm not mistaken.

Cheers :)

I can't believe no one had the need for such a thing yet

It's much easier to borrow someone Else's kid, than to have one or buy an effect. :)

basically you're right but it's something that might take a lot of takes and might take days to get right..... it just won't work....I'll have to do it myself

Melodyne lets you change the formant of the voice. Perhaps a combination of pitch-shifting and formant alteration will produce the effect you want.

What is it that you wish to record as a child would? Seriously, I would like to know and maybe help.

I could have likely had this done for you 4 weeks ago, and would have taken less time than you spent trying to find a way to fake it. Seems you do not realize how easy it is to get kids to do what you ask of them. It only takes a bit of encouragement. At the least, having a child.

I would love to know what it is you wish to record, that a 6-9 year old kid could not do.

:D

If it has to sound realistic like a child then your only hope is to have a child record it. This is simply not something that can be solved by a plug in.

However, if a cartoon child is enough, get your vocal actor to do his best imitation of a child at the recording stage then apply pitch shifter as required. It won't sound real but it'll sound like what's accepted as a child in cartoons.

By the way, any reason for starting with a male voice? On commercial animations it's pretty common for boys around that age to be played by female voices...check out the Simpsons for example.

Good points Bobbsy.
