I believe that effect is created using autotune. Basically, over-using autotune.

Autotune the vocals to within a millimeter of their life. Then autotune some more. Finally, end the last word of every lyric line with the syllable "mmaaawwwww" sung through the nose.

i'm talking about the effect that's on t pain vocals

Although you can get the the "cher effect" by using autotune, they didn't use autotune on Cher's Believe. They actually used some old Roland vocoder, and didn't vocode everything, they actually left some syllables here and there unprocessed ;)

if you have to ask, then you're not gay enough.

And since you don't have to ask you are gay enough?

Personally I have no idea how they got that effect. :D (not that there's anything wrong with knowing how they did it)

Maybe hamsters?

Yeah, I'm a bit confused now too...Is SOS calling that producer guy a liar? Why would he come up with such an elaborate story about the vocoder processing to hide the fact that he used autotune?
