I'M BLESSED.......
I don't know if I'm allowed to do this, but Spin forgive me if I'm not........I don't know how many of you frequent other forums in HR, but I try to better myself by learning from as many people as I can. I search other forums for topics of interests, and helpful hints that I can incorporate within my music. I came across this post in the Songwriting forum. It shows how ignorant people are to Urban Music. This person, I guess, is from the Far East. But I guess it shows that the Urban stigma travels well beyond the walls of the U.S.

The worst singers EVER are those R&B/Hip hop shitheads who think every song verse has to be split into several hundred syllables at a different pitch level. I think it's just a way to mask the fact they can'tcarry a tune in a bucket. Just sing the song, god damn it!!

I won't say that he is a hater (but i also won't say that he's not) But he certainly is pretty ignorant. He's 58 and prolly pretty set in his ways. You won't catch me trying to teach an old dog .

I wouldn't take his oppinion as much anyway considering the corny shit thats on his soundclick page. I mean what the hell are you gonna learn from him.

Fuck him, his Cakewalks Pro, Casio 584 Keyboard, his heart, head and hands (no homo)

I hear you Hi D! ! ! But:
The reason I posted it is because he is a "Hater".....TO ME!!!!!
Many people hate the fact the RnB and Hiphop artist are as successful as they are. They were banking on failure for no other reason than hating....I respect many forms of music, even those I can barely listen to. But I am quick to acknowledge the different art forms of music, and take it soley as a different approach that pertains to different groups of people. That's the luxury of being an individual, to each their own. I'm tired of people not respecting others...................But, he is entitled to his own opinion, I guess ....Sorry, didn't mean to elaborate too much!
Peace to all and their style of music. What makes us come to BBS? ummmm........ MUSIC!!!!!!......... Nuff Said!

Yes, trumpspade, you are allowed to do it just as I am allowed to dislike a certain genre of music. The trouble with you Americans today is you're all tied up with political correctness. I suppose if I hated the song Hava Negila (sorry 'bout the spelling) I'd be anti-semetic. Aren't we allowed to have a simple opinion on this site? What the fuck...over?
You don't like my style of music....that's ok. You're entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. But I think you're carrying the diaribe a bit too far. You might also note that printing your post in BOLD letters doesn't make it carry any more weight than if you printed it normally. For the record I didn't say I hated any type of music only the way some singers slaughter a good R&B/Hip Hop song. I like lots of R&B/Hip Hop songs....just not the way some people sing them.

Could you give us some examples tamky? I just want to see where your head is at.

As far as the original comment, I didn't see it as hating, I just saw it as a personal opinion. That would be like me saying I hate the repetitive twangyness in country music, (which I do) but I can also respect that it's part of the genre and can actually be used in a good way from time to time.

See tamky is 58 supposedly, and by that time most people have formed their own opinions about different things. The fact that he's only isolating certain types is a good thing (if that's just not lip service to avoid being flamed). I mean my parents HATE my music (mainly because of lyrical content) and don't support it. But I don't try to sway their minds about it. I just let them have that opinion and go on about my daily.

Let's not start a war about the topic and get everyone off task of doing what they do best....make music.

Feel that?

Fie.

If you read my post I did say that you are entitled to your opinion......And you are allowed to have a simple opinion on this site......I DON'T have to agree with your Opinion! And I just didn't like the way you said RnB/Hip Hop Shitheads...Did I take it personal? Maybe....Should I have? Of Course not....I aplogoize for making a stink. But it isn't about liking a particular genre of music, that is fine and dandy. I dislike many Rap songs and RnB songs that I hear on a regular that I think is garbage. Maybe it is the over protectiveness that I have for the pioneers who paved the way to what RnB and Hip hop is today, it just couldn't allow me to sit back and let someone say RnB/Hiphop Shitheads without at least commenting on it.
The trouble with you Americans today is you're all tied up with political correctness.

I won't touch that one!

ONCE AGAIN I GOT TO SET IT STRAIGHT

What da problem is?
it comes down to flavor. see this guy is not in grasp of soulful flava. this statement
"The worst singers EVER are those R&B/Hip hop shitheads who think every song verse has to be split into several hundred syllables at a different pitch level"

is indicative of his inability to understand soul flava/ hiphop flava. his flavor seems to be transient oriental type or what ever you call it so he does not understand the representation or significance of those pitch and note twist when done correctly. Remember music is that art which affects the passions by sound. So you cant fault ignorance. ignorance is not knowing and we all are ignorant about something. I will just come right out and say it

THIS MAN IS IGNORANT and thats OK. you cant know everything
also THIS MAN IS ENTITLED TO HIS OPINION.

Other peoples opinions are the substance of greatness. I believe TI said it best ......MOTIVATION

So tamky you ok with me. as long as you not feelin the music i like thats one less cat doing it wrong and fucking it up. and as long as I dont feel the stuff you doing ..vice versa

stay up pimp

was that politically incorrect enough for you

Yeah, I suppose I'm set in my ways at 58, but it's more because I've been and seen many things in my life that probably most people won't see in theirs not just because I'm 58. Got my ass kicked outta Vietnam in 1975, then I was on the last airplane outta Iran when we got kicked outta there. In addition, lived and worked in Thailand and Saudi Arabia for many years so I've seen a few things. I don't wanna start a pissin' contest either but maybe my point of view is a lot different than many of you that haven't had the chance to do some of the things I have and lived in some of the places I have. I'm an American, born and raised in New England and I sure hate to see some of the things that are going on in America today. Old fashioned, yes. Proud of America, yes.
I think most people are set in their ways by the time they're 25 anyways so being old(er) shouldn't matter. We all have an opinion about music we like. 90% of the posts here are about opinions. Who likes what music, what equipment, what kind of mix. We shouldn't be chastising anyone because their opinion differs from ours. Hell, if everyone was like everyone else, there would only be one kind of music being played - ROCK!! :D :D (Hmmmmm...maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing)
Anyway, yes, let's all back up and regroup and get back to being our usual cuddly selves.

I'll buy that!

Peace to All...............

that kind of singing has roots in africa. this attitude it is cultural ignorance. doesn't mean you have to like it, though. you can like or dislike whatever you want.
