Hmmm... Nobody said anything bad about it. Nobady said anything at all. Must be some really good stuff. Must be really great stuff.... I know if it was bad in any way then cats couldn't wait to post. Damn i'm good. I'm really good. In fact.... Hmmmm.... Maybe.... Everything was perfect... HAHAha... It was pefect and I'm the best... I'm the greatest engineer to ever exist. I own you all... Bow to my greatness. I'm a mix immortal.

I FEEL THE POWER!!!!

Unless???? Nahhh.... You guys would tell me...

I FEEL THE POWER!!!!!!!

I listened to the first part of the first song and the Bass came in and clashed completely with the piano parts.

I think if you analyze the dominant bass notes you'll find the piano part is not happy. The bass fights the piano when it should be complimenting you're opening line.

I hope this helps

There were several songs on the page. In those cases I just pick a title that seems interesting. So I went with "Feels Good." If you wanted feedback on another particular song please let me know and I'll try to get to it.

Just a tip... If you provide feedback for other people (everybody gets an opinion :D) you will probably get more of it back in return.

Ok on FG. I thought the instrument mix was pretty good. Good punchy bass - seemed programmed though. Some good harmony work. Cool introduction of the guitar part in the chorus (although it was just a bit dominant).

Lot's of "yeah yeah's" going on - maybe a bit too many for my taste. Some of the vocal lines are trampling on each other. In spots the lead vocal gets covered up by some of the background. The lead vocal is also just the slightest bit too far back in the mix.

Lyrically I have to say it wasn't real imaginative.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I listened to "smile"

Not the type of music I do, but here's what I heard.

The piano needs something else, more presence inside the mix is what I felt it needed.

The vocals are pretty tight, I'd stay mostly away from those. Maybe even bring them down a bit (It's just about illegal to say bring the vox down round here though)

The drums need more punch, I think I wanted to here them more maybe. And with more authority.

Thanks for the feedback ya'll. This my first visit to the MP3 area of this board. Don't think i've been to this spot ever... I will be hanging around more and give up some opinions about what I hear. I'm no pro. though.. Just will be more like listening and learning.

Ya'll hit on some points that definitatly need to be taken care of. Thanks. Some good advise.

We kinda are kinda lacking in some areas because this is my first R&B album, my 3rd full cd, dudes first solo attempt ever, and his first attempt at any kinda production. I let him do most of the music because I really had no idea what he wanted. Since he really didn't know how to get what he wanted or really even tell me then that left to much room for crap to happen and missed details. Some stuff is just too screwed to correct but I think overall things are turning out pretty good.

If anydody has any other opinions or suggestions please don't hesitate to shoot.

Thanks.

that's funny. :)

I usually look for peoples songs who participate in some way.. That means they help out other people.. As in, their name appears on threads other than their own once in awhile..

listening to 'smile' right now..

I like it.. it reminds me a bit of 'Seal.'

I think you could have used some better sounds.. The ride cymbal sounds like it's straight out of 'Fruity Loops' and there is no variation to it at all.. The bass sounds o.k., but it's very midi sounding to me.. I think it could use a few more sounds to fill it out a bit.. especially around the 3 min mark.. maybe some strings.. the vocals were great for the most part except some of the higher background parts sounded off..I would trim a few of those out or lower them..

overall I did like it..

Ok, Great Voice

Harsh bass drum sound, it is way to "flappy" sounding. Kind of thin sounding mix on Smile. Also very sterile. Sounds like it came right out of a sequencer. I'd like to hear this guy with a real backing band. It could be pretty cool.

All the synth sounds are just tooo sterile and dry sounding to me. Also his little description is not complete in sentences.

Good Day

Listened to "Smile". The best part of the song was the vox. (although they were a little low at times).

Everything else (i.e. instrumentation) was very sterile (as previously mentioned). Try out different drums samples, key sounds, bass sounds, etc. The ones you're currently using are detracting from the quality of the songs.

I listened to "feel good". It was a clean mix. The drums were ok but a little fatter analog bass or real bass would work a little better with them I think, 'cause they are so tight and dont have any ambient tone. Or swell the drums a little for body and keep the short envelope bass. I really like the sound of the crash cymbal. A little Bob James style piano tinkling would smooth it, and fill in spots. A little horn stab would really put some spice in there, each time it turns around. as far as capturing the tones of the istruments, very good.
