hey guys!

so here's a little dub remix i did of a song that some friends who've just started a reggae label back home recorded. i actually play guitar on this track. this is meant to be the first single that the label is going to release (check out www.kinyamasounds.com).

Had to hand this in as course work for uni, and for that i had to add 6 midi channels to it..i probably wouldn't have if it were up to me..but it wasn't. i know the midi sounds aren't great, but that's life. the midi had to come from an MU80, so thats why..

also help me come up with a cool name for the dub version. I was thinking of incorporating the original title (Some of Dem) into it..something along the lines of "Dub of Dem" or "Some of Dub" or "Some Dub"...

so tell me what you think!

Kinyama Sounds feat. Prince Alla - Some of Dem (Dub version)

Yes I, give thanks and praises to the most High!

Shakers in the middle sound a lil loud to me... Rest sounds good.. Cool song..

Rub a Dub Dub,
This is cool. Takes me back to the mid/late 70's.
The rhythm keyboard could be brightened or lifted when it's "featured" at least once - or effected.
Don't worry about the midi samples - live with 'em or process them.
All around a top effort - the shakers are well placed to my ears. The explosion is a typically dub novelty & works fine.
Remember, silence & single instruments were also dub features.
Sum of Dem Vershun ( "version" was the trad name for a dub mix of another tune)
I & I sai Babylon by taxi mahn.
Cheers

very good point. i'll think that one through, see what i can come up with. i've also realised that for the long 'verb on the snare, i've automated the 'verb track volume rather than automate the sends to the 'verb track, which should clear things up a bit...

i like the name! might use that...

thanks for your input man, much appreciated!
