Cheap software

I was wondering what you guys know about ellsworthband.com, and oemsoftware.cn.

They seem to be selling expensive software for about a tenth of the usual price.

Is is possible that this is legal?
 
Probably not. OEM software is intended exclusively to be preinstalled on computers, and the license agreement generally says that the license is only valid on the computer that it was sold with, so if it wasn't sold with a computer, technically, the license isn't valid at all.

That and most of those companies probably aren't selling actual OEM software anyway. Most of them are probably selling cracks.

General rule: if it looks too good to be true, it almost invariably is.
 
If someone's going to play fast-and-loose with commercial software, are you going to trust them with YOUR credit card????

You can get Reaper for $40 (free actually until you get guilty enough to pay for it) or N-Track for $50 or you can go to the bookstore and get Computer Music magazine with a whole suite of audio software for $14....
