Cheap SDC's; Behringer B5 / ADK SC-1.. Should I bother?

I told the ladyfriend I wouldn't spend any more on recording gear for a while. But I am in the need of a few more mics and wanted to get a pair of SDC's. I have a pair that are exhibiting some self noise (rumble, pops, clicks) and need something while I get them sorted. Something in the cheap range will do me fine. Since I missed out on the 603 deal from MF I've found some adk sc-1 (Which look exactly like the JM27's) and some behringer b5's. The B5's have onmi capsul, pad, and low cut. Which sound pretty useful. I plan to use them for some acoustic guitar (though I'd probably use my Naiants XQ, or hamburg LDC pair) and on drums (overheads or toms depending on my mood) / hand percussion.

Between the two which would you think would be the best mic (low noise, decent quality, suitable for future upgrades?) as I can get them both for under 100 for the pair, the b5's will be about 20 more?

Thank you,
-Josh

Josh,
From a quick internet search, it looks like the Behringer has a much higher SPL rating (140dB vs 124dB)... might be a consideration if you intend to put these over/on drums.

I haven't had good luck with the longevity of Behringer stuff, but if your modus operand is temporary replacement, I would probably lean toward the B5's.

I've got the naiants, but Im in need of some cardioids. I suppose I could give those b5's a try they seem cheap enough right now.

Those Behringer B5 mics are each 2/3rds the price of a used MK-012, which are known to actually sound good. I'd focus on the latter if I were looking for a relatively inexpensive mic that sounds good.

Unfortunately Im relatively about 300 short for a pair of those bad boys ;)

that is unless you want to buy a firepod?

So you don't have any money at all? You can usually find them used for about $100-120 apiece on eBay, from musicgoround, etc. :)

I hate to "upsell" when someone asks about a budget set of mics but this is an exception.

Those MK-012s are freaking great. Very very good on overheads and brilliant on Ac guitar, mando, banjo etc. I'm always amazed at those mofos. They're around on the cheap but you may have to look.
