cheap preamp?

i'm looking for an inexpensive (under 200$ preamp.) any suggestions? a built in compressor would be nice too!

do u want a single or dual channel, and would you rather a clean signal or something more colored....

The ART Tube Pac, and Joe Meek VC3Q, are both around $200 and have compression. I have the ART Tube Channel and it's real similar to the Tube Pac. I wouldn't hesitate buying one again, for what that's worth.

single channel is all i need. i'm just looking for something simple. i can do most of the other stuff once i get it digitized

I would go with just an Art Tube Mp ($99) for now and when you can afford a compressor, go with a RNC Compressor ($175)....another question, what are you recording from and what are you recording to?....
