I want to know which of the mics (or any that u have to suggest) make the best overhead mics...My max amt. of money for OH's is 200 bucks.

Man, you HAVE to include in that poll the Naiants MSH1O !!! :D

mxl 990/991 mic package is the best you can get for the money, i think

I was thinking that...im just not too keen about buying things from small websites. For example, Avatar cabinets...now yes they are trusted like naiant, but instead of even having a paypal sort of check out thing, they want you to send ur email wiht ur credit card number..i mean, I would never want that stuff in the wrong hands...esp. something as big as my credit card. But, they are very good so i hear..and for 50 bucks for a pair..idk if you can go wrong. And also i do already have an MXL 990..i was wondering if i bought another and used them as overheads...or if i should just go new OH's all the way.

i've always really liked the 990s as overheads but if you have it in your budget to add something else to your arsenal, do it!

I haven't tried the Naiants, but so far they seem the way to go.
After I get myself a snake, I'll prob go for the new MSH-1

Naiant take paypal as far as I remember.. An I use the MSH1s and am happy out with them..
(never ever email your credit card anywhere!)

Alright..i get it..either naiant or oktava haha. I cant find the oktava's anywhere though...on any site, and only saw like attachments for it on ebay...

Naiant MSH-2 and JM27

I own pairs of both the Naiant MSH-2 (omnis)and the Joe Meek JM27 (SDC cardiod). I have been liking the Naiants for their flat non-hyped sound. If they're too BOOMY I just cut out lows and some mids, maybe a little boost up high. I find the MSH-2 to be a very "EQable" mic, making a pretty good sound sound even better. The JM27 I have to use EQ to lower some narrow frequencies to remove annoyances.

Get some Naiants.

And email is transmitted as plaintext, never email your CC number, it's not hard for someone to get.

ADK SC1....they dont sound good on anything EXCEPT drums and they are great on overheads. The separation of the cymbals and the toms sounds will amaze you. Probably get a pair for a bit over $100. Leaves enough for the Naiants and a bowl of soup.

Yea, mk-012 are cheap for what you get but not really bargain basement

yeah i eventually back tracked to the oktava site and found them..however, my max is 200 bucks on a pair of mics...thats a bit above my price range haha.

ok fair enough : what about a pair of beyerdynamic mce530's. they can be found for a little more than $200.

i have no experience with them personally but both beyerdynamic mics i own - a 201 and an old 420 - sound absolutely brilliant.
