i was thinking about buying a keyboard to work on melodies and beats. i was looking for one i could connect to my computer and have it recorded onto my computer on. are there any suggestions for a cheap keyboard that will get the job done? also, what programs are there to record keyboards? thanks yall

If your city has a recycler or classified (Los angeles has a great one) or even Ebay...You can find a keyboard for under $35,any one with midi in and midi out will do.you can then go to best buy or such and buy a MAGIX music maker...studio deluxe for under $70...this will have everything you need at the cheap level you are looking for(well you will need to buy a midi cord and if your computer doesnt have midi in and out you need an adapter.).If you have a bigger budget there are different scenarios...but for cheap this isnt a bad thing.

thanks. my price range is pretty low.. anywhere under 300

I would buy a MIDI controller and then get fruity loops. Fruity loops is about 150 bucks I beleive and you can get a MIDI controler for like70 bucks. Even less if you buy used. Then you can get yourself a MIDI interface liike a midisport or something.

thanks ericlingus. got any recommendations for a good midi controller ? and what's the midi interface for? do you really need one if the midi controllers have usb connectivy themselves?

some of the cheaper yamaha keyboards come with USB outputs, you can probably find one for under $100. personally i'd get one with touch sensitivity so you can get some realistic piano sounds and stuff like that. you can get a midi controller for about $40 on ebay, a midi/usb cable for $40, and then search around for good software!
