Maplin, a UK electronics shop similar to Radio Shack, do cheap dual impedence condenser mics with the following spec:
· Switchable dual-impedance
· Windshield
· Microphone holder
· Requires 1 x 'AA' battery
Specification:
Type: Electret
Polar response: Uni
Frequency response: 50 - 18KHz
Impedance: 6001/2 and 50k1/2
Sensitivity: Lo-Z - 68dB; Hi-Z - 50dB
Lead/plug: 6m/6.35mm jack
I'm wondering if they'll do as cheap overhead mics. They cost £23 (about 1/3 of an SM57), and I can't really afford more than £30 for a mic at the mo. Does anyone have any experience with these or similar?
