cheap but decent signal splitter?

hey guys,

im looking for a signal splitter cause i want to be able to track guitars but also take down a dry signal line in case i want to reamp later. i cant afford an expensive one but also want decent quality.

what do you recommend?
 
What's expensive? I've had good results with the Whirlwind A/B box that's about $100 new, I think. With any of these, make sure to use a battery instead of a wall wart, if possible.

Does Naiant ( http://www.naiant.com ) make one? I've been very happy with their (Jon's) signal manipulation stuff (and mics).
 
I'm curious

as to why a battery version is better?

I'm wanting to run multiple amps simultaneously.

No, and if you can buy one for $100, that sounds like a deal. I mean by the time you buy a metal stompbox case, a good footswitch, the jacks, and stuff in a battery holder & AC adaptor input (with required protection circuit), and build yourself a simple buffer circuit, you've probably spent $30-$40 on parts.

If you just need a simple splitter rather than an A/B box, any DI should work fine, they should all be able to drive several outputs. Just use a Y cable if the box doesn't have two output jacks.
 
I picekd up an A/B/Y box from ART that works ok, but just ok

Splits signals fine, and lets you A/B, but has bleed from the a/b option.

THat is, if B output is to a tuner, and you hit the A/B switch the amp will still get a signal, much quieter, but still audible (and the louder the amp, the louder the unwanted noise).

The 'Y' function is fine, so dual amping or amp and dry signal should be fine.

yeah i can do the di ok with what im running, so i really just need to be able to split the signal to two outputs
