I need to get an FX box of some sort quite soon, for sticking some reverb on live vox and guitars. To be used both in a small PA and in the monitor chain for recording.

My budget is basically nothing, so the question is - which out of all the units that go on Ebay daily for next-to-nothing is actually quite usable? There is a whole world of battered Midiverbs, Lexicons and other stuff I know nothing about and one of them will add a bit of atmosphere for this artist without costing me a proper amount of money.

There must be some hidden gems out there, uncover them for me! :)

I'll 2nd those two.

Although this isn't rack mountable, the Alesis Wedge...usually found for $50 or less, I think is fantastic. Probably one of most adjustable cheapie reverbs ever on the market...and it sounds good too.

And that's that... really, good recomendations...

Awesome. Cheers guys. I'll hit Ebay later tonight and see what I can find out of those.

The Lexicon MX200 can be used as a stand alone unit or connected to your computer via USB and controlled with software. Great little unit; I have one in my PA rig. $ 200 new.
