For a couple of you keeping track, I barely made my self-imposed deadline of 1 chapter of Ecclesiastes per month, so I can be done with all 12 by the end of the year.

As usual, 500mhz win98 sblive w/ ntrack & fruity.
Guitar and bass line out Ibanez pt5 floor fx unit.
Vox sm58 thru Tascam 4track mic pre.

What's different is my new guitar pickups off ebay. Got a wired pickguard with a pair of Dimarzio air zones. I'm pleased with how they sound on the tune. Also used a tympani sample in bridge section of the tune.

This is the famous "time for this and that" chapter.

Tracked the vox last night and was so happy, I wanted to put something up immediately. Vox are as-is.

Hey I liked it! It's not my style, but I surely appreciated what I heard. It's some of the most realistic FruityLoops programming I've heard, especially for hard rock. Where can I get that snare and kick samples?

Rock on!

Thanks Chrisjob,

I wish I could remember where I got them. I roved the web doing searches on every drum sample I could find, and kept my favorites. I am pretty sure the kick is from Roland V-Drums. But I just unzip them off the web, and name the ones I keep things like "Kick1" or whatever. If you are interested in those particular samples from the tune, I can put them on my webspace and link you up. Let me know.

I'd loved to have some of your samples ( I like the ones from chapter 1 even more). Im not very web-saavy so I don't know how difficult it is to upload samples, but if you had the time to post them, I'd be sure to download them.

Good music, good message, good work

Hey great singing! Cool song. I especially liked the Bridge around 2:30. Nice arrangement. All around clean sounding.

What'd you use for vocals?

Later,
john

Sondriven, thanks for the props. The vocals were all recorded with a sm58 thru my tascam 4-track mic pre. The lead vocals were run thru the Blue DX compressor and Endorphine dual band comp(both free plugins), to tame the levels, and on mixdown, a little n-track chorus and Freeverb. The backing vox, one harmony over, one harmony under, were doubled and panned and run thru Endorphine, with just Freeverb and eq on mixdown.

The method behind guitar and vocal harmonies are the same. A melody is already present, then I sing or play one line under till I find something I like, then one line over till I find something good. I pan them and squash them. Those harmonies are the last thing to go on, and are usually figured out as I'm recording. So it's always a neat surprise to see how it turns out.

Killer tune dude! You still have that Kansas influence happening on the vocals:-)I checked out your web site and thats a great concept project you have going on.ECCLESIASTES !!The Preacher! All is vain!!:-)
