Channel inserts as direct outs

Hey gang, hope someone can point me in the right direction. I'm still learning this stuff step by step.

My setup:

Recording guitar, bass, 3 drum mics, 2 vocal mics
In to separate channels (8 available) on Behringer 2004A mixer
Using Aux 1 send/return to effects unit (M-One) for vocals
Recording to Omni/IO Delta 66 card (4 ins).

We've been basically recording "live" since the mixer only has
Main out (L/R) and an Alt3/4 out. That's been fun but now we
want to use the channel inserts so we can multitrack. That seems to work but I noticed that the "effects" are not being recorded. I suspect that the "inserts" are recording the signal prior to the effect being returned from the M-One? Any suggestions? If you need more info, please let me know.

An insert is usually at the beginning of the chain... The fx return at the end. Bad luck :D

You might try to add the FX later, or record them at the same time using a modified insert cable that splits your signal off and feeds it back into the mixer... But with only four inputs you'll either have three trakcs and a mono verb or two tracks and a mono verb.

Anyway its recommended to record dry...

you should record clean anyway... and put effects in later.
