Hello-

I have Cakewalk HS XL

I need to change the tempo on a fully tracked song I have just finished, about 11 tracks total.

From what I gathered in both manuals, it says to change a tempo on an AUDIO clip you must make it into a Groove Clip and then , and only then, can you change the tempo. Am I reading that right? For MIDI I see it looks easier. But mine is all Audio.

What if I need to change the tempo of the whole song? Not only the whole song, but different parts of the song need additional tempo tweaks here & there.

So, Must I really actually convert the whole song into a Groove Clip? This concerns me greatly. I'd have a coronary if I messed up any part of this masterpiece.

The online manual tells how to convert clips but not whole songs. Would I do it one track at a time? Unfortunately my tracks are a snaggly patchwork of punchins and holes. Does each snaggly piece need to be converted to a Groove Clip alone ?(If I can't convert the song as a whole?)

Certainly there's something I'm missing here. There must be a way to do this yes/no?

thanks alot

The whole song would be too big for a groove clip. The manual tells you what the size limitations are. I can't remember. Unless we're both missing something, I think you're gonna have to break each track up into chunks and and start changing tempos one chunk at a time. Or, you can check out a program called Prosonic Time Factory that will let you load an entire wave file and modify tempo without compromising the quality. I don't know how well this works. Might want to check it out.

I can do it with SONAR, can HS do this ?

Select all the audio track, Edit --> Groove Clip Looping (Ctrl+L). They all will be converted into Groove clip... ;)

...umh.

If you're not sure about what you do... MAKE A BACK UP FIRST !!!!!
