Change eq of entire song?

Hi. Sorry if this was asked before.. But..

After mixing and mastering a song track by track and you create your stereo mix, do you ever go back and change things like eq or dynamnics to the song as a whole? Or, once you finish it track by track it should sound how you want it?

that's whatcha do for mastering, at least a big part of it.

If the individual tracks have been EQ'd correctly, it will make the overall EQ on the stereo mixdown an easier job for the mastering engineer. I suppose this is all subjective, though.

Of course, you wouldn't master a song track by track...mastering would take place once you've rendered all your tracks to a single stereo track.

There might be several different ways to do this, so all you ME's can let me know if I'm missing something.

OK, I think I get it. I may have been confusing mixing and mastering, again! I'll get it straight one of these days..
