A fellow is trying to sell me a cerwin-vega bg-250 bass amp. and a 2x15" cab at a horrendous 1500 euros..
It is a rare amp around here (Finland) and has been played by some serious local Legend, but still, isn't that overpriced to hell??..

I mean, 500w Warwick stack would cost me approx. a 1000e in here, and that Cerwin-vega is only 300watts?

And can it be any good since no one has ever heard C-V made bass-amps in here??

It's a mistake to gauge quality by using watts-per-dollar as a measuring stick....but judging by how difficult it is to find info abotu the BG250, even from the CV web site, I'd say the amp is old? out of production? discontinued?

I love CV speakers and gear, dont get me wrong, BUT........my gut feeling says you shoudl walk away.....

No chance I'd spend that kind of money on a Cerwin Vega bass amp.
1st ...... 15" speakers are too mushy sounding ..... they don't respond very quickly which is why 10"'s have become the standard for the vast majority of bassists.
Secondly .... Cerwin Vega got famous for bass .... that's true, but it was theater bass that started it off and then they made some excrutiatingly bad stereo speakers that the masses liked because, "Gawlee .... listen to that bass Martha" even though the rest of the freq. range was covered with piezos and sucked.
I can't imagine their bass amps had much definition or top end response.

To be sure, I haven't played one of their bass guitar amps but I'd just have to think any modern bass amp would smoke it.
And on bass ..... lots of watts is a good thing ...... the more the merrier if the speakers can handle it.

Yes......YES!......Listen to Obi Bob Kanobi you should.....teach you he will.....

Right on Bob!
