Product: Motu Firewire 828
Computer: Compaq Presario 5861 running Windows XP Professional
Software: Cool Edit Pro 2.0

Problem:
I know that Cool Edit Pro is 100% WDM compatible and multi-channel compatible (I have even tested this by recording 4-track simultaneous using a simple Tascam USB recording device and using WDM drivers).
I followed the installation instructions for the Motu 828 and ran the setup program included on the CD-ROM before ever plugging in or powering up the device. After installation, I plugged in and turned on the device and a windows xp hardware detection did occur, so i simply let it do its thing and it apparently "found" the drivers it needed and installed appropriately (again, this was all AFTER running the setup software).
With the device in pure WDM mode, Cool Edit Pro only recognizes one stereo pair (or one regular channel) of WDM input from the 828, and this one stereo input doesn't seem to record anything. However, putting the device in "MME Compatibility mode" allows Cool Edit to detect all of the various inputs (8 inputs / 4 stereo inputs in total). I've tested this, and it works.
Here's my problem. I know that MME is less efficient and not as stable, and I know that WDM should work and is better. Is there any way to get the WDM drivers to work with Cool Edit?

Thanks!

As far as I know, No. There isn't a way to get CEP to use WDM. You need the MME goods. I am not positive, but that's how I run my MOTU 2408 with CEP.
